ASSIGNMENT: CREATE A MEDIA PROJECT BY REMEDIATING AN EXISTING PRODUCT

PROJECT LENGTH: 3 MONTHS

The remediation of the hot comb as a speaking and listening device is meant to broaden the reach of what exists in an institutional space. Not only will the device broaden the relationship between maker and institution and between institution and participant/visitors. The traditional relationship usually exists between maker and institution and between institution to the audience community. In the more expansive model, the audience community participates with the makers and they also do not have to enter the physical institutional space to consume creations that are supported by the institution. Thus expanding the borders of the institution is more accessible and the creations more personal.
